Turn your iPod into a portable video player
Just stumbled upon this sweet gadget, the Nyko MoviePlayer. It turns your iPod into a video player. With the recent iTunes update now supporting videos this little puppy makes a whole lot of sense. It appears to use the iPod as a storage unit and adds a HD color screen, controls, playback software/hardware, speakers and some additional battery juice. And while its not available yet in the US market I'll bet it's going to be a lot cheaper and a whole lot more handy than buying a second iPod-like device for just video. Then again, maybe the next Apple iPod will play video. Hello? Apple?
BTW, It appears to play all the major formats including MPEG, QT and WMV with the single exception of Real Player Format, so it can handle just about anything. Personally, I want one yesterday. :) more infoTrailers | May 23, 2005 11:45 AM

I'm grooving on the Flyboy:
What would happen if a TiVo and an iPod were cross bred? Add a screen, and its the flyboy.
Now at Amazon for $350:
Here's a description from Amazon:
"An ultra-slim portable MPEG4 media player and recorder. This portable device allows you to record up to 40 hours of video, store over 100,000 digital pictures, or hold up to 370 hours music on its 20GB hard drive and enjoy it all on the move. The Flyboy has a pleasant to watch 3.5 inch LCD screen with built-in speakers. The internal USB 2.0 hard drive allows your Flyboy to receive files another MediaREADY or a PC."

Congratulations, you're THE first poster. Thanks you!
BTW, thanks for the info, I hadn't seen the Flyboy. That's right on the money, though still a little expensive, but then all the portable video players are.

There's a new Archos similar to the Flyboy AND has a 7 inch screen -- but its quite pricey ($1,000)

Now that's cool ... for the first time, I'm thinking maybe I should get an ipod

That Archos is a beautiful thing. It's just soo damn expensive though.
BTW, did you see in the specs for the Nyko Movie player. Did I read right or can it actually record video too?
